Plantain stems are usually thrown away or left on the farm to decay like a natural fertilizer. A group of unknown farmers have found a way of making plantain stem beneficial. A few weeks after it was placed on the internet, it went viral.
After harvesting plantains on the farm, the plantain stems are arranged in sequence. Small holes are dug in the plantain stems. It is filled with moist loamy soil and left for a day.
After that, short rooted vegetables like dandelions are planted in the holes filled with the soil. Fews days later the vegetables begin to grow in the plantain stems. This farming method does not require irrigation or much labour.
Vegetables, depending on the type can be harvested twice or more before the plantain stems decay. (1√)
